Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. - Lars-Peder Nagel scored a goal and an assist as the Bakersfield Condors defeated the Las Vegas Wranglers 4-2 in front of 3,840 fans at Centennial Garden on Tuesday night.
In a physical first period the Condors found themselves shorthanded four times, accounting for most of the Wranglers 15 shots on goal during the opening frame. It was Lars-Peder Nagel and the Condors that drew first blood, however, as the first year center took a feed from fellow rookie Brett Lutes, drove to the net and tucked home his eighth of the season for the 1-0 lead through one.
Bakersfield dominated the second period, pelting Marc Magliarditi with a season-high 23 shots on goal and adding to their lead. Vlad Serov tallied his sixth goal of the season, and third in the last three games, on the power play to make it 2-0. Bakersfield led in shots through two periods 34-19.
Dennis Shiryaev gave the Condors a 3-0 lead early in the third period but it wouldn't hold. Las Vegas stormed back with a pair of goal by defenseman Christian Chartier to make it a one-goal game with less than eight minutes remaining in regulation. Bakersfield held on with an empty net tally by Kevin St. Jacques to seal the deal. Bakersfield finished with 42 shots on goal, the third time in four meetings with Vegas they've hit the 40 shot mark.
Vegas is in town again on Friday night for Bright House Networks' Tux & Pucks New Year's Eve Gala. Fans are invited to dress in formal attire to celebrate the turn of the New Year with the Condors as they don special tuxedo jerseys for a jersey raffle and auction. Five jerseys will be raffled off with everyone in attendance eligible to win one for free, while the rest will be auctioned after the game to raise proceeds for the United Way of Bakersfield.
Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location. Season and group tickets may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Condors office next to Centennial Garden.
