MacKay Signs, Edwardson Goes Back To AHL
December 29, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies News Release
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the New York Islanders, have announced two separate transactions this afternoon. Atlantic City has signed goaltender Tyler MacKay to a contract, while rookie center Derek Edwardson has signed a professional try-out agreement with Bridgeport of the American Hockey League.
MacKay, 24, begins his fourth professional season after going a career-best 17-5-2 last season for the Wheeling Nailers in 26 games with a 2.24 goals against average and a .921% save percentage. MacKay's final goals against average would have placed him in the top five among ECHL goaltenders, but he didn't meet the required minutes at season's end. The Deschambault Lake, Saskatchewan native signed with San Diego in the off-season but was released just prior to the start of the regular season. MacKay is 49-38-3 for his professional career with a 2.95 goals against average and a .910% save percentage.
Edwardson, 23, returns to the AHL for the second time in as many weeks after completing a two-game stint with Grand Rapids over the holiday break. The Morton Grove, IL native is tied for the Bullies lead in scoring and tied for second overall in the ECHL race with 13 goals and 30 points. Edwardson was held without a point in his two games with Grand Rapids.
Edwardson joins forward Brett Nowak, defensemen Brian Fahey and Vince Macri, and goaltender Adam Munro as current Bullies playing in the AHL.
Atlantic City returns to Historic Boardwalk Hall at 7:05PM tonight when they host the Dayton Bombers. Every Wednesday home game is "Wild Wednesday". All college students, casino workers, military and service industry personnel get in for just $6. Enjoy great beer specials all night for just $2!
