Comeback Turned Away in Loss to Midland

FRISCO, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders fell to the Midland RockHounds 9-8 Wednesday night from Riders Field.

The Riders (33-17) didn't take long to jump on the scoreboard as Josh Stowers connected on his ninth home run of the season in the first inning, giving Frisco the early 1-0 advantage.

Midland (23-27) responded in the fourth inning with a Devin Foyle three-run home run, giving the RockHounds the lead 3-1.

Midland then tacked on with a five-run fifth inning, started by a Nick Allen homer, to give them the lead 8-1.

The Riders added two in their half of the fifth with a pair of RBI singles by Bubba Thompson and David Dahl trimming the lead to 8-3.

In the sixth, Thompson delivered a three-run double off the center field wall, scoring Diosbel Arias, Anderson Tejeda and Matt Whatley, cutting the deficit to 8-6.

Frisco tied the ballgame at 8-8 in the seventh when Tejeda smacked a two-run single to right.

In the eighth, a Hever Bueno wild pitch pushed across the RockHounds ninth and final run of the game.

The 9-8 score stood as Frisco's eleven-game winning streak came to an end.

Bueno (3-2) got his second loss of the season as he allowed the go ahead run in the eighth.

Jack Weisenburger (2-0) earned his second win of the campaign as tossed one inning, walking one.

The Riders and RockHounds are back on the diamond Thursday, July 1st at 7:05 pm from Riders Field. RHP Ronny Henriquez (0-0, 8.49) goes for Frisco against RHP Kyle Friedrichs (0-2, 6.95).
