BROOKLYN, NY (August 16, 2018) - On a Vermont throwing error in the bottom of the 10th, the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Short Season, Class A affiliate of the New York Mets, scored the tying and winning runs en route to a 2-1 walk-off victory over the Vermont Maple Kings Thursday night in 10 innings at MCU Park.

BIG MOMENTS

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the 10th, Vermont third baseman Jonah Bride fielded Chandler Avant's bunt and threw wildly to first base, bringing in Anthony Dirocie and Nick Meyer from first and second. Tylor Megill stranded the go-ahead run at third base in the sixth inning, striking out Alfonso Rivas to end the threat. Brooklyn starter Josh Walker turned in five shutout innings of three-hit ball, walking one and striking out four. The southpaw finished his outing having retired seven consecutive batters.

Brooklyn has won a season-high six consecutive contests, and will enter Friday's series opener with division-leading Hudson Valley one game back in the standings. The Cyclones have played four extra-innings contests this season, going 2-2. Tylor Megill struck out a career-high eight batters, the most for a Cyclones reliever this season.
