
Staten Island Outslugs Hudson Valley to Win Series Opener

STATEN ISLAND--The Staten Island Yankees defeated the Hudson Valley Renegades 5-3 on Wednesday night at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
Shawn Semple picked up his third win of the season with 5.2 strong innings on the mound before reliever Aaron McGarity finished the rest of the game to pick up his second save of the year.
The Yankees offense was led by Kyle Gray who had a home run and three RBIs on the night. Josh Breaux and Eric Wagaman also picked up RBIs in the win.
The Renegades got most of their offense from Major League Baseball rehabber Tommy Pham who went 3-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Jacson McGowan drove in the other run for Hudson Valley.
Staten Island defeated the team with best record in the New York-Penn League and will look for the two-game sweep tomorrow at Hudson Valley. First pitch is scheduled for 7p.m.
