
Second-Round Pick Parker Meadows Joins CT Tigers

NORWICH, Ct. - The Connecticut Tigers, Class A Short Season affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, received outfielder Parker Meadows from Gulf Coast League Tigers West (Rookie Level) on Friday. The 18-year-old, 44th-overall pick from the 2018 MLB First-Year Player Draft will start in center field and bat sixth for the Connecticut Tigers on Friday against the Aberdeen IronBirds at 7:05 p.m.
In corresponding roster moves, shortstop Wenceel Perez and outfielder Reece Hampton earned promotion to the Class A West Michigan Whitecaps for the first time. Connecticut received shortstop Jose King and left-handed pitcher Alfredo Silva from Gulf Coast League Tigers West for their second stints in Norwich this season.
Meadows was selected in the second round of this season's draft and batted .281 (21-for-74) with four home runs and eight RBIs in his first 22 games as a pro with GCL Tigers West. Meadows is currently ranked the seventh-best prospect in the Detroit Tigers' Minor League system according to MLB Pipeline and he is the younger brother of 2013 first-round draft pick Austin Meadows, who is currently playing in Triple-A with the Tampa Bay Rays organization.
Meadows will wear jersey #12, King will wear #48, and Silva will wear #57 for Connecticut. An updated roster is attached to this email.
The Connecticut Tigers open a seven-game homestand at Dodd Stadium on Friday with Military Appreciation Night presented by the Better Business Bureau. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a 2018 CT Military Heroes Card Set and postgame fireworks presented by Liberty Bank will immediately follow the contest.
