
Come from Behind Victory Nets Spirit Sixth Straight Win

The Saginaw Spirit mounted a come from behind victory to net their sixth straight win Friday night, besting the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 3-2 in regulation. The Spirit tallied three unanswered goals in the latter half of the game to secure the win, two of which were scored shorthanded. Spirit goalie Tadeas Galansky earned the game's first star honors with 33 saves, while Brandon Saad earned the game's third star with a goal and an assist. Saginaw's record now stands at 6-1-0-0 with 12 points, good for first place in the OHL Western Conference and the distinction of being the top ranked team in the league's standings.
It was all Greyhounds in the first half of the game, with center Daniel Catenacci scoring :46 seconds into the game from winger Justin Thomas and defenseman Dylan King. Hounds center Nick Cousins tallied a power play goal at 9:34 in the second to give the Soo a 2-0 lead, with defenseman Brandon Archibald and Catenacci earning the assists.
The Spirit mounted their comeback late in the second, with winger Anthony Camara scoring an unassisted, shorthanded goal at 14:55 in the second. It was Camara's first goal of the young season. The Spirit scoring momentum carried into the third period, with center Brandon Saad scoring :23 seconds in to even up the contest 2-2. Center Vince Trocheck and defenseman Brad Walch assisted on the goal. Moments later it was Trocheck who gave the Spirit their first lead of the game, scoring shorthanded at the 2:30 mark with an assist courtesy Saad. The Hounds would continue to pressure the Spirit defenseman, but Saginaw held on for their sixth straight win with a 3-2 decision in regulation.
Saginaw netminder Tadeas Galansky notched 33 saves on 35 assists, while Soo goalie Bryce O'Hagan earned 31 saves on 34 shots.

The Spirit host the Guelph Storm Saturday, October 9 at 7:11 PM for the fourth annual PINK OUT Breast Cancer Awareness Game benefiting the St. Mary's of Michigan Seton Cancer Institute. The team will be wearing special pink jerseys during the game, to be auctioned off post-game with the proceeds going to benefit the cause. There is also a pink pom-pon giveaway and a pre-game charity hockey game staring the Hockey Angels at 4:30 PM.
