Colorado Rapids News Release
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - The Colorado Rapids, in conjunction with the City of Commerce City, will be hosting the 27th annual 4thFest at DICK's Sporting Goods Park on Monday, July 4, as part of the Rapids' match against Portland Timbers FC. The Independence Day holiday game, which has been an annual tradition for the club since its inception in 1996, will feature a family festival and block party prior to the match along with the state's largest public fireworks display postgame.
"We're excited to once again partner with Commerce City to celebrate Independence Day with our community at our annual 4thFest event," said Colorado Rapids Chief Business Officer Wayne Brant. "4thFest is one of our most cherished club traditions dating back to our inaugural season and a day that we highly anticipate each year. We look forward to welcoming everyone out at DICK'S Sporting Goods Park and enjoying the festivities together."
"As our nation celebrates another Independence Day, I am happy to invite all of our residents and those from surrounding communities to partake in the 4thFest activities and root on our Colorado Rapids as they take on the Portland Timbers before the largest fireworks display in the state," said Commerce City Mayor Benjamin Huseman. "I also want to remind everyone to celebrate responsibly!"
As part of the 4thFest celebrations, the Rapids and Commerce City will host a family festival at DICK'S Sporting Goods Park prior to the Rapids' match that will include live music, a bounce house, soccer darts, a rock-climbing wall, trampolines, a mechanical bull, a trackless train, pedal carts and a toddler zone among the activations. 4thFest is free and open to the general public.
In addition to the festival elements, the Rapids will be hosting a block party as part of 4thFest for the first time. The additional activation, which is part of the Rapids Block Party Series, will be located along the south side of the stadium and include a live DJ, drinks, food trucks and an LED wall that will stream the Rapids' game live. Local fans who live within the vicinity of the stadium can bike to 4thFest and park their bikes at the Rapids' Burgundy Bike Lot, which is located on the east side of the stadium between Gates B and C.
Following the match against Portland, fans will be invited to come down to the field to view the largest public fireworks display in Colorado and MLS.
The Rapids are 13-7-6 (W-L-D) all-time in 4thFest games. Kickoff against Portland is scheduled for
7:30 p.m. MT and tickets are available at ColoradoRapids.com/tickets.
