Orlando City SC Forward Duncan McGuire Nominated for 2023 ESPY Award

ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando City SC forward Duncan McGuire has been nominated for a 2023 ESPY as part of the Best College Athlete, Men's Sports category. McGuire was selected as the No. 6 overall pick in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft by the Lions after a decorated career at Creighton University.

In his final season at Creighton, McGuire was awarded the 2022 MAC Hermann Trophy, which is awarded to the United States' top men's and women's college soccer players. He led all NCAA Division I in goals with 23 and in points with 50.

McGuire helped propel his team to the Semifinals of the College Cup with four goals and one assist across four tournament games. The forward was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-American Second Team and All-East Region First Team, while also earning BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year honors and Most Outstanding Offensive Player for the BIG EAST Tournament. McGuire finished his career at Creighton with 55 appearances and 32 starts, netting 28 goals and adding six assists.

Since joining Orlando City, McGuire has made an immediate impact with the Club, appearing in 15 games and scoring six goals so far in the MLS regular season, to go along with two assists. The six goals are currently the most scored this season by any City player across all competitions.

The former Bluejay is nominated alongside Zach Edey from the University of Purdue's men's basketball team, Brennan O'Neill from Duke University's men's lacrosse team and Caleb Williams from the University of Southern California's football team.

The 2023 ESPYS will air on ABC on July 12 at 8 p.m. ET.
