Club de Foot Montreal News Release

MONTREAL - CF Montréal returns to Stade Saputo this Saturday at 7:30pm for a meeting against New York City FC in MLS play (MLS Season Pass, BPM Sports, CJAD 800).

Following a 1-0 win over Nashville on June 21, Montreal tied a league record for consecutive home shutout victories and will be looking to set a new MLS mark. The Club record stands at 10 shutouts in a single season (2018).

Currently eighth in the Eastern Conference, Montreal will be playing NYCFC for the first time since a 3-1 loss in the MLS Cup playoffs last October.

The Montrealers hold a 2-9-5 overall record against the New Yorkers, with a goal differential of -15, and have never managed to defeat the visitors in six games at Stade Saputo (0-4-2).

As for the visitors, they have gone unbeaten since May 31, drawing five consecutive games against New England (0-0), Salt Lake (0-0), Columbus (1-1), Atlanta (2-2) and Portland (1-1). However, New York is also only one of two teams in the East without a win on the road this season (0-5-6).

In international soccer, defenders Zachary Brault-Guillard and Aaron Herrera were both with their respective national teams (Canada and Guatemala) for the first day of Group D matches at the 2023 Gold Cup. Brault-Guillard was an unused substitute in Canada's 2-2 draw with Guadeloupe, while Herrera played all 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Cuba. The two teams meet this Saturday at 9:30pm in Houston.

Lastly, the Club will take the opportunity on Saturday at halftime to recognize the CF Montréal Academy U15 team in reaching the MLS NEXT final for the first time in the Academy's history. Goalkeeper Jean-Christophe Belzile was notably named goalkeeper of the tournament.
