Asheville Tourists News Release
ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists found themselves in another come-from-behind situation on Saturday night and once again Asheville made things interesting late. The Brooklyn Cyclones built a five-run lead and the Tourists cut it down to two. Asheville ended up falling by a final score of 8-5.
Neither team scored in the game's first four innings. Asheville's starting pitcher Joey Mancini looked great during that stretch. Mancini had allowed only one hit prior to the fifth. His counterpart, Brooklyn's Jordan Geber, gave up two hits across the first four frames.
The Cyclones put a rally together in the top of the fifth and built a 4-0 lead. Zach Cole gave the Tourists their first offense jolt with a two-run Home Run in the sixth. Brooklyn countered with three more in the top of the seventh to build a 7-2 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh, Austin Deming singled to ignite a two-out rally. Deming later scored on a wild pitch and Justin Williams drove in a pair with a sharp single into right field. Williams and Cole each finished the game with two hits.
The Tourists did not put another runner on base the rest of the game after Williams' single and the Cyclones added a run in the top of the ninth for insurance. Franny Cobos pitched 1.2 scoreless innings out of the Tourists bullpen with three strikeouts.
Asheville and Brooklyn wrap up their six-game series on Sunday afternoon with the first pitch slated for 1:05pm ET.
