Coffey, Sea Dogs Shut Out Fisher Cats 4-0

Portland, Maine - The Portland Sea Dogs (13-4, 53-33) shut out the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4-0 (4-11, 39-44) on Wednesday night in front of the thirteenth sellout crowd of 7,368 fans at Hadlock Field.

Corey Rosier, Marcelo Mayer, and Nathan Hickey all recorded multi-hit games, all going two-for-four at the plate. Isaac Coffey fired 5.0 scoreless innings while striking out ten to set a Double-A career high. John Schreiber pitched a perfect inning in relief with one strikeout on a Major League rehab assignment.

Hickey put Portland on the board in the bottom of the second with his tenth home run of the season. The solo leadoff shot put Portland on top 1-0.

Three runs came across to score for the Sea Dogs in the bottom of the third to extend the 4-0 lead. Corey Rosier singled on a bunt to score Phillip Sikes before an RBI groundout from Chase Meidroth scored Rosier. An RBI double from Hickey (6) scored Marcelo Mayer to cap off the inning and the Sea Dogs led 4-0.

RHP Isaac Coffey (4-0, 3.09 ERA) earned his fourth win of the season tossing 5.0 shutout innings with four hits while walking one and striking out 10. RHP Adam Kloffenstein (4-5, 3.21 ERA) was given the loss pitching 5.0 innings allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out six. Joe Jones earned his second save of the season recording the final out.

The Sea Dogs return to Hadlock Field tomorrow, July 20th, 2023 for game three of a six-game series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. First pitch for game three is slated for 12:05pm. New Hampshire will send RHP RHP Sem Robberse (2-5, 4.15 ERA) while Portland will send RHP Sterling Sharp (2-2, 4.91 ERA) to the bump.
