Coca-Cola Park up for Ballpark Digest Honor
June 28, 2018 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The best ballpark in all of Minor League Baseball, Coca-Cola Park, has made it to the semifinals of Ballpark Digest's Best of the Ballparks competition. Fans have until 3 p.m. Sunday to vote for who should move on to the championship matchup, which begins immediately after the conclusion of the semifinals.
Coca-Cola Park is up against Victory Field (Indianapolis Indians) for the right to face either Louisville Slugger Field (Louisville Bats) or defending champion Huntington Park (Columbus Clippers) for the title of best ballpark in Triple-A.
Undoubtedly one of the top destinations at any level of baseball, Coca-Cola Park has distinguished itself as a must-visit for any baseball enthusiast in its brief 11-year history. Since the Pigs' inception in 2008, Coca-Cola Park has drawn more fans than any minor league ballpark thanks to the team's unparalleled guest experience efforts and top-class amenities.
More than 6 million guests have attended IronPigs games at the venue, which has won multiple honors including Ballpark Digest's "Ballpark of the Year" award during the Pigs' inaugural season.
This weekend's vote is the fourth round in the competition that featured all 30 Triple-A destinations. Coca-Cola Park opened by defeating Shrine on Airline (New Orleans Baby Cakes) with 69 percent of the vote before topping AutoZone Park (Memphis Redbirds) with 57 percent. Despite an intense social media blitz from the Nashville Sounds, Coca-Cola Park earned 51 percent of votes to edge First Tennessee Park.
While the Pigs first three matchups came against Pacific Coast League venues, the Final Four all hail from the International League. Three of the four have drawn an average of more than 7,500 fans per contest in 2018.
