PORTLAND - November 21, 2014 - The Maine Red Claws sent the Expo fans home happy with a thrilling finish to their home opener.
Even team scoring by the Red Claws helped improve their record to 3-0 on the season with a nail biting 94-90 win Friday evening.
Led by Tim Frazier's 18 points and 8 assists in the Boston Celtics based run-and-gun offense, Jermaine Taylor added 17 points 8 assists, Christian Watford scored 15 points, and Chris Babb chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. With 23 lead changes the Red Claws again had to rely on clutch performances late in the game to get the win.
Alex Kirk led the Canton Charge (1-3) with 22 points 10 rebounds and Chris Crawford also scored 20 points.
In the final minutes of the fourth quarter, Taylor would hit a huge three from the corner to tie the game at 88-88. Seconds later Watford would again show his late game heroics by hitting a three pointer to make the score 91-90 with 25 seconds on the clock. A block by Omari Johnson and three of four foul shooting from Frazier would seal the game for the Red Claws at 94-90.
The Maine Red Claws play again, Sunday, November 23, 2014 against the Delaware 87er's at the Portland Expo.
