Drive Lose Tough One to Westchester Knicks

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - November 21, 2014 - The Grand Rapids Drive offense stalled on Friday night in a battle of two new NBA D-League teams.

The Drive, who averaged 109 points in their first two games, lost 97-83 to the Westchester Knicks for their third-straight loss to start the season. It was the first win in franchise history for the affiliate of the New York Knicks.

Adonis Thomas scored 20 points to lead four Drive players in double figures in scoring. Thomas, a 6-foot-6 forward out of Memphis, leads the team with 19.6 points per game. Lorenzo Brown finished 18 points, followed by L.D. Williams with 13 and Brandon Fields with 11. Hasheem Thabeet, a 7-foot-3 center out of UConn, had a team high nine rebounds and four blocks along with four points.

Grand Rapids (0-3) shot 41 percent from the field and trailed 48-31 at halftime. After the first quarter, the Drive never got closer than 14 points.

One of the highlights for the Drive was an impressive dunk by Thomas over 6-foot-7 Thanasis Antetokounmpo off an alley-oop pass from Williams in the third quarter.

Todd Mayo led the Knicks (1-2) in scoring with 20 points. Antetokounmpo had 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 blocks.

The Drive, the affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, complete a four-game road on Saturday at the Canton Charge at 7 p.m. Grand Rapids' first home game is Wednesday, Nov. 26 against the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
