Ontario Clippers News Release
DES MOINES, Iowa - The Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario (6-7) defeated the Iowa Wolves (4-10) on Sunday, 115-103, to even the three-game season series at one apiece.
The Clippers received huge production from their front court tonight with two-way player Johnathan Motley leading the way with 35 points, matching his career-high. Fellow two-way player Angel Delgado recorded his eighth double-double of the season with a 16-point, 12-rebound performance.
Continuing on his recent tear, Anthony Bennett also posted a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Over the last four games, Bennett has averaged 22.8 points and 7.3 rebounds while making 4.5 three pointers per game.
After finishing the first half with a seven point lead, Agua Caliente opened the third quarter with a huge 29-10 run to bring the score to 88-62. Delgado's layup with 2:14 in the quarter extended the Clippers lead to 26, their largest of the night.
Iowa fought back in the fourth and were able to get within single digits. Wolves center Keita Bates-Diop stole a bad pass and scored a layup with 4:09 left to play, bringing the score to 95-102 and the deficit to seven. The Wolves were unable to break through, as the Clippers benefited from clutch free throw shooting, missing only one of their eight free throw attempts in the final three minutes.
Bates-Diop, a Minnesota Timberwolves assignee, finished the game with 15 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Darius Johnson-Odom led the team with 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting off the bench.
Agua Caliente travels to South Dakota tomorrow to face the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the tail-end of a back-to-back. The game tips off at 4:30 p.m. (PST) at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
