Claws Win Second Straight with Friday Win over Greenville

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Four BlueClaws had two hits and Yacksel Rios allowed two runs in 5.2 innings as Lakewood topped Greenville 5-2 on Friday night at FirstEnergy Park.

Carlos Tocci, Zach Green, Larry Greene Jr, and Willians Astudillo each had two hits for the BlueClaws, who took the series from Greenville two games to one. This is the only series of the year between the two teams.

Greenville's Wendell Rijo homered in the first inning for the Drive, but the BlueClaws tied the game in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single from Zach Green.

Lakewood took the lead in the 4th on a SAC fly by Astudillo and added two runs in the 5th inning on an RBI single by Andrew Pullin that brought in both Larry Greene Jr and Enmanuel Serra with the help of an error by left fielder Zach Kapstein.

Yacksel Rios (4-0) gave up two runs in 5.2 innings to earn his 4th win. Joey DeNato got four outs for Lakewood and Aaron Baker got the last six for his second save.

Greenville starter Trey Ball (1-8) took the loss after allowing four runs, two earned, in 6 innings of work.

With his two hits, Tocci is now 33-102 since June 29th when he moved into the leadoff spot in the order.

The BlueClaws (13-21/40-63) have now won two straight games after dropping three of their previous four. Greenville (8-27/42-62) has now dropped eight of their last nine games.

Kannapolis comes to Lakewood for a five-game, four-day series beginning Saturday night that includes a Sunday double-header. On Saturday, RHP Ranfi Casimiro (2-9) starts for Lakewood opposite RHP Robinson Leyer (5-6).
