Rome, GA - The Rome Braves (13-22) defeated Delmarva (17-18) to take the rubber game of their three game series with the Shorebirds on Friday night in front of 3,997 fans.

The Braves drew first blood with an RBI double by Sean Godfrey in the bottom of the first for the 1-0 lead. Delmarva countered in the second on a run scoring single from Jared Breen to tie the game 1-1. The Shorebirds took the lead in the third on an RBI single by Creede Simpson for the 2-1 score.

Rome regained the lead for good in the fifth when Connor Oliver and Johan Camargo both reached on a single and were sent home on an RBI triple by Godfrey for the 3-1 score. A sacrifice fly by Ross Wilson would plate Godfrey and give the Braves the 4-1 lead. The 4-1 score would stand as the Braves bullpen would hold off Delmarva for the remainder of the contest. Offensively, Camargo went 4-4 and Godfrey 2-3 with three RBI on the night. Godfrey extended his hitting streak to 12 games.

Brandon Barker (3-1) gets the win, Caleb Dirks (1) picks up the save, and Hunter Harvey (7-5) is charged with the loss.

The Rome Braves open a four game series against the West Virginia Power tomorrow evening at 7 o'clock. The Tams will be in concert following the game. For information contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com
