LAKEWOOD, N.J. - LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The BlueClaws scored four unanswered runs and rode 6.1 scoreless innings from the bullpen to defeat Greensboro 5-3 Saturday afternoon.
After trailing 3-1, the BlueClaws scored three runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to take a four-run lead and they never looked back en route to victory. Aaron Altherr's two-run double tied the game and Maikel Franco grounded out to score Kyrell Hudson for the game-winning run.
Gabriel Arias was the first man out of the bullpen in relief of Kenny Giles and was credited with the victory. Arias allowed one hit in 3.1 shutout innings, and his record now stands at 1-2 on the year.
The BlueClaws and Grasshoppers continue the four-game series with Game 3 Saturday at FirstEnergy Park. Lakewood will send Ethan Stewart (0-2, 2.61) to the mound against Greensboro's Charlie Lowell (2-1, 4.15) as the BlueClaws look to get their first victory in a game started by Stewart this season. They are 0-6 in his six starts and have scored just eight runs in support of Stewart who has the lowest starting pitcher ERA on the roster. First pitch for Sunday's game is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
