
Braves Succumb to Tourists, 6-2

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves succumbed to the Asheville Tourists 6-2 Saturday evening in front of a sold out crowd of 5,105 at State Mutual Stadium. Asheville struck early in the first inning after a lead off walk to Brian Humphries, a wild pitch and an RBI single by Tyler Massey for the 1-0 lead. In the third inning, Asheville's Harold Riggins stroked a three run homer over the center field wall for the 4-0 score. The Braves would get on the board in the fourth as Kyle Kubitza singled to drive in Tony Mueller to cut Asheville's advantage 4-1. Rome would score once more in the fifth inning on a De Los Santos groundout, but failed to advance past second base for the remainder of the game. Asheville added one run in the fifth and ninth innings for the 6-2 victory.
Asheville's Chris Jensen (3-1) would get the win after only allowing two runs in seven innings. Greg Ross (0-2) would only pitch three innings for the Braves and would record the loss.
