Claws Hold on for 3-2 Win on Tuesday

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - The BlueClaws scored three times in the fifth and held off Aberdeen 3-2 on Tuesday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.

Jersey Shore snapped a four-game losing streak with the win and improved to 15-4 against Aberdeen so far this season.

Aberdeen scored in the first inning on an RBI single by Carter Young for a 1-0 lead. The innign could have been bigger, but Trendon Craig grounded into a 5-2-3 double play with the bases loaded to end the inning. The IronBirds doubled the lead in the third on a solo home run by Elio Prado, his fourth with Aberdeen this year.

Jersey Shore took the lead in the fifth. Cole Moore's RBI double cut the lead to 2-1 before a run scored on a fielder's choice groundout by Matt Kroon. Later in the inning, Gabriel Rincones Jr. singled home Crawford to give the BlueClaws their first lead of the game at 3-2.

BlueClaws starter Gabriel Cotto got through the fifth, allowing just two runs with three walks and five strikeouts. He earned his second win of the season with the BlueClaws.

Carlos Betancourt retired all six batters he faced. Wen-Hui Pan, in his first appearance at ShoreTown Ballpark, threw a scoreless eighth inning.

Wesley Moore got the last three outs for his third save.

The teams continue their series on Wednesday night at 7:05 pm. RHP Christian McGowan starts for Jersey Shore.
