Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones announced Thursday morning (January 3) that they have signed center Jason Deitsch to a contract. The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of both the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.
Deitsch, 27, led the Cyclones in scoring during 2006-07, collecting 26 goals and 45 assists for 71 points in 69 games. Jason was a key player for Cincinnati, which upset Toledo in the opening round of the Kelly Cup playoffs and advanced to the North Division finals before losing in seven games to Dayton.
Deitsch began the season with Munich EHC (Germany) and was the second-leading scorer on the club with 14 goals and 15 assists for 29 points in 31 games. One of six North Americans on the squad, Jason was the lone American playing for the team.
Deitsch, who was born on the west side of Cincinnati, is in his third season as a professional. His rookie season (2005-06), he was a member of the Kalamazoo Wings (UHL) and helped that team capture the Colonial Cup.
"This is the equivalent of making a big trade," Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber said. "Jason Deitsch is a solid two-way hockey player who will contribute right away. He is a player capable of helping us to win a championship."
