Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors agreed to terms with G Michel (mee-SHEHL) Robinson today, as announced by Head Coach Marty Raymond.
Robinson, 25, is in his fifth professional campaign, and has been playing this season in Quebec with Radio X in the North American Hockey League, where he was fifth in the league in save percentage and 10th in goals against average (GAA). In 2006-07, he played 30 games with Ritten in Italy, recording a 2.75 GAA and .924 save percentage.
Prior to that, Robinson played two seasons with Rockford in the United Hockey League, accumulating a 56-30-11 record with nine shutouts, helping to earn him a pair of stints in the American Hockey League with Milwaukee. The Montreal native was named the Goaltender of the Year, First Team All-Star and the starting goaltender in the UHL All-Star Game in 2004- 05. Additionally, Robinson scored a goal that season while playing with the IceHogs. In 2005-06 he won back-to-back UHL Goalie of the Month awards with Rockford en route to a 23-8-2 record. Robinson also suited up in 44 games with Greenville in the ECHL during his rookie season in 2003-04.
"Michel is a proven goaltender," Raymond said. "From the moment we made contact with him, we felt that he could help our hockey team get to a playoff spot. He is a big man that covers a lot of net and is very competitive."
Robinson played three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior League from 2000-2003 with the Rouyn- Noranda Huskies, Baie-Comeau Drakkar and Shawinigan Cataractes.
