Geneva, Illinois - Playing under the moniker "The Kane County Atomic Pork Chops" the Cougars (67-48, 32-14) blasted two homers in an 8-0 win over the Cedar Rapids Kernels (66-50, 27-19) on Thursday night in front of 7,982 fans at Northwestern Medicine Field. Kristian Robinson blasted his first homer as a Cougar and Zack Shannon belted his team-leading 11th.

The Cougars ignited the offense with two outs in the fourth. Zack Shannon doubled and Blaze Alexander singled, setting up Kristian Robinson for a two-run triple. Nick Dalesandro collected an infield RBI single and Joey Rose knocked in Dalesandro with an opposite field knock to make it 4-0. Robinson unloaded in the sixth inning for a solo shot to extend the lead to 5-0. Shannon's bomb in the seventh gave the Cougars an 8-0 cushion.

Levi Kelly (5-0) completed his fifth quality start of the year with six shutout innings of three-hit baseball to earn the win. Ryan Fritze (1) earned his first save with three innings of no-run ball. Luis Rijo (4-7) suffered the loss. He allowed four runs in five innings.
