
Ynfante Collects Two Hits in Loss

Beloit, WI - The Peoria Chiefs scored first and last but fell 6-3 to the Beloit Snappers Thursday night. Right fielder Wadye Ynfante went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI to earn the Pekin Insurance Beyond the Expected Player of the Game.
The Chiefs got on the board immediately against Beloit starter Reid Birlingmair. Jonatan Machado led off with a double to left field, his fourth with the Chiefs this season. Two pitches later Machado moved to third on a passed ball and he scored on the same play as catcher John Jones threw wild to third base.
By time the Chiefs came to bat again they were down 4-1. Brandon Riley walked with one out in the second and moved to third on a ground-rule double by Alexis Wilson. Anthony Churlin dropped a fly ball off the bat of Ynfatne allowing Riley to score and cut the Beloit lead to 4-2.
Down 6-2, the Chiefs scored the game's final run in the top of the ninth. Josh Shaw doubled to left center to start the inning and he moved to third on a wild pitch. Machado delivered a sacrifice fly to left to plate Shaw for a 6-3 final score.
Wisconsin native Dalton Roach took the loss despite striking out eight batters over 4 2/3 innings. Reliever Wilfredo Pereira allowed two infield singles over 3 1/3 shutout innings while striking out one.
The three-game series concludes at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The broadcast can be heard, starting with the Pre-Game Show at 6:15 p.m. on the Peoria Chiefs Tune-In Page, which is free and also has a free app for smartphones and tablets.
The Chiefs return home Saturday, August 10 for a three-game series against the Clinton LumberKings. Saturday is Hero Night with Marvel's Spiderman and Black Panther on hand. The Chiefs will wear special Organ Donor jerseys to raise money for Gift of Hope and there will be a post-game fireworks show presented by Pekin Insurance. There will also be a Pitch In For Charity Tennis Ball Toss to raise money for the Central Illinois Ronald McDonald House.
