Ft. Wayne, IN - The Peoria Chiefs banged out 16 hits en route to a 12-2 blowout win over the Fort Wayne Wizards Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. Sean Gallagher tossed six shutout innings as the Chiefs won for the fifth time in six games to improve to 16-20 on the half and 51-55 overall.

The Chiefs jumped all over Wizards starter Fabien Jimenez (4-11) in the 1st inning and never let up. Anthony Granato reached on an infield single to start the game and after a flyout Ryan Harvey singled to center. With two outs and two on, Bo Flowers gave the Chiefs a 2-0 lead with a triple to right-center.

In the 4th, Flowers led off with an infield single and Simokaitis singled to right. Oscar Bernard drove home Flowers with a basehit and Aaron Smith was hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs. Drew Larsen and Granato followed with RBI singles before Smith scored on a fielders' choice for a 6-0 Chiefs lead.

The Chiefs continued against Jimenez in the 5th as Flowers and Simokaitis both walked to start the inning and Bernard followed with a RBI single. Chris Steinborn relieved Jimenez and gave up a single to Smith to load the bases. Larsen drove home two to give the Chiefs a 9-0 lead before Steinborn got out of the inning.

Oscar Bernard capped the scoring barrage in the 9th inning with his first homer of the season. The two run shot was just inside the foul pole down the left field line and gave the Chiefs a 12-0 lead.

Gallagher lowered his MWL leading ERA to 2.28 with six shutout innings in which he allowed five hits. The right-hander improved to 11-4 while striking out five and issuing zero walks. Walt Nolen tossed two hitless innings of relief in which he issued one walk and struck out one. Mike Jones allowed two run on three hits in the 9th inning. Pepsi Player of the Game Oscar Bernard (C) -The Chiefs catcher capped a great offensive team effort in the 9th with his first homer of the season. Bernard reached base four times on the night, with a single, double, homer and once on an error. He finished a triple shy of the cycle going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and a career high four RBI.
