South Bend Silver Hawks News Release

South Bend, IN - The toughest thing the Silver Hawks have yet to accomplish in the second half of the season is putting together a lengthy win streak. Saturday night, the Hawks were unable to use Friday's momentum and suffered a 5-0 lose to the Lansing Lugnuts.

Lansing scored the only runs it would need in the eight outs into the game. With two out in the visitor's third inning, Jason Armstrong singled to center field and Christian Snavely homered to right field giving the Lugnuts a 2-0 lead. The Lugnuts extended their lead in the fifth.

David Corrente opened with a walk and Eugenio Velez singled to right field moving Corrente 90 feet. After Jason Armstrong's fly out to fostered Corrente to third and Velez second, Chris Snavely singled through the hole at shortstop plating Corrente and Velez.

The Lugnuts added an insurance run in the ninth to close the scoring.

South Bend's Koley Kolberg (4-6) took the defeat, while Chi-Hung Chen (5-6) was the winner.
