BURLINGTON, IA -- Kyle Crist tossed a complete game for the Burlington Bees in a 9-1 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Saturday night at Community Field. He allowed just three hits, walked none, and struck out six. Brian McFall hit a three run homer and the Bee offense did all of their damage in two innings.

Burlington (55-51 overall, 21-15 second half) scored five times in the bottom of the second inning to get the early lead. Rattler starter Mark Lowe hit Geraldo Valentin and walked Eddie Solis to put the first two runners on base in the inning. Cody Cure doubled both runners in and would score on a double by Irving Falu. Ed Lucas singled to score Falu. An RBI single by Rusty Brown capped the scoring for the Bees.

They got going again in the bottom of the fourth inning. Lowe again hit the first batter and walked the second batter of the inning. After a single loaded the bases, Ed Lucas drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. One out later, McFall hit a towering, three-run home run to left and the Bees had a 9-0 lead.

Wisconsin (58-48, 19-17) got their first hit (and first base runner) against Crist in the top of the fifth inning. Marshall Hubbard singled with one out, but was erased on a double play to end the inning.

Hubbard also got the second hit of the game for the Rattlers and spoiled the shutout bid for Crist with a shot over the scoreboard in rightcenter for his team leading fourteenth homer of the season. A pinch hit double by Josh Womack with one out in the ninth inning was the only other hit the Rattlers had.

Crist needed only 88 pitches to pitch the first complete game of his professional career and earn his ninth win of the season.

The win by Burlington snapped a four game losing streak for the Bees and a four game winning streak for the Rattlers.

Game three of the series is Sunday afternoon. Aaron Jensen (6-10, 5.29ERA) will get the ball as the starting pitcher for the Rattlers. The Bees plan on using Justin Sherman (3-4, 2.76) as their starter. Game time is 2:00pm.
