May 5, 2008 - The Peoria Chiefs used home runs by Cliff Andersen and Josh Donaldson and struck out 14 Kernel batters to take the first game of a three game series, 5-3, at Dale and Thomas Popcorn Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Monday night.
The Kernels were held to four hits as Jay Brossman hit a 2-run home run in the fourth inning and Julio Perez was 1 for 3 with a triple. Jerry Gonzalez and Andrew Romine each had a hit. Cedar Rapids was unable to take advantage of four Peoria walks and a Chief error as they stranded six runners on base.
