Johnstown Chiefs News Release
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Johnstown Chiefs announced today that they will be hosting a band-aid donation drive at their home game on Friday, December 18 to benefit the Brent's Band-Aids charity. They have also issued a sellout challenge for the same game.
"The Chiefs are excited to help an outstanding young man like Brent Swaltek. His charity is a great cause and we want to send him home with more boxes of band-aids than he knows what to do with. Our fans are more than generous when it comes to causes like this, and I know they'll get behind it in a big way," said Ray Schmitt, director of communication and customer relations.
Brent's Band-Aids is a charity that was started this past summer by seven year old Brent Swaltek of Windber. Swaltek, who was diagnosed with leukemia in July, started his charity in order to collect cartoon-themed band-aids which are then donated to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. To date, Brent has donated over 1,000 boxes of band-aids.
In order to help Brent's cause, the Chiefs are asking that everyone attending the December 18 game vs. Toledo bring a box of cartoon band-aids with them. For those who do the Chiefs will give them one free child's ticket for each box of band-aids that is donated. Donation tables will be set up in the War Memorial Arena lobby and in exchange for the band-aids fans will be given a voucher, for that night's game only, good for one free child's ticket.
The Chiefs have also issued a sellout challenge for the night of the game. With the holidays quickly approaching and everyone in the giving spirit, the Chiefs want to give back to their fans. As a reward for their generosity in giving to Brent's Band-Aids, and for filling up the arena, the Chiefs will allow fans to use their tickets from December 18th as a free coupon to select future home games! The announced attendance must reach or pass 3,880 in order for the reward to kick in. Mark your Calanders! The Chiefs are back on home ice on Friday, December 4 against the Wheeling Nailers at 7:05. The Chiefs will be hosting their annual Cool 101.7 Toy Toss to benefit the United States Marines' Toys for Tots drive. Everyone in attendance is asked to bring a new or used stuffed animal, that is in good condition, and throw it onto the ice after the Chiefs score their first goal. Groups of 15 or more are eligible for discounted tickets and preferred seating. Contact a group representative at 814-539-1799 today. Good seats still remain for individual tickets, go to ticketmaster.com or call 1-800-Ticketmaster.
