Dayton Bombers News Release

Dayton, OH – The Dayton Bombes suffered a 3-0 shutout loss to the Johnstown Chiefs in front of 2,289 at the Nutter Center Friday night.

Johnstown scored goals in each of the three periods, as the Bombers winless streak reached a season-high five games (0-4-1). Dennis Packard opened the scoring at 5:16 of the first period. The Chiefs made it 2-0 when Chad Cavanagh beat Dayton goaltender MIKE AYERS at 15:03 of the second period. And Brent Kelly capped the scoring with his 9th goal of the season at 10:09 of period three as the Chiefs beat the Bombers for the second time in five meetings this season.

"I wasn't disappointed with our effort", said Bombers head coach and general manager DON MacADAM. "Obviously, though, I was disappointed in the result. We were able to get the puck to the net, but we couldn't find a way to beat Currie."

David Currie recorded the 38-save shutout victory for the Chiefs, while Mike Ayers faced 29 shots and recorded 26 saves in the losing effort.

Despite the loss, teddy bears and stuffed animals were collected following the game with the proceeds going to The Children's Medical Center of Dayton.

The Bombers and Chiefs finish this home-and-home series tomorrow night at the Cambria County War Memorial in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Audio coverage at daytonbombers.com starts at 7:00 PM.

The Dayton Bombers are pleased to be a part of the Dayton Public Schools "Book Barrel" campaign.
