August 3, 2015 - International League (IL1)
Syracuse Mets News Release
The Syracuse Chiefs are pleased to partner with Onondaga County Comptroller Bob Antonacci for a great night at NBT Bank Stadium, Thursday, August 13th. Antonacci will sponsor the Chiefs' final $1 Thursday of the season, which will feature the Washington Nationals Racing Presidents. In addition, St. Baldrick's Foundation and Antonacci are partnering to raise awareness for childhood cancers on "#Baltitude Night". Fans can have their heads shaved and donate money to support the foundation and the fight against childhood cancer.
"We're thrilled to partner with Comptroller Bob Antonacci for one of our biggest nights of the year", said Chiefs general manager Jason Smorol. "We're going to have some fun with the Racing Presidents and our great $1 Thursday specials and raise awareness for a great cause at the same time. We're looking forward to making this night happen with Bob once again."
On August 13th, the famed Washington Nationals Racing Presidents will return to NBT Bank Stadium. The likenesses of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt will be on hand, competing in their signature race from Nationals Park. The Presidents have raced at every Nationals home game since July 2006. The Presidents race was named the 2012 "Best Contest or On-Field promotion" by Gameops.com.
In addition, Comptroller Antonacci is partnering with St. Baldrick's Foundation to spread awareness about childhood cancers. St. Baldrick's will have tables set up on the concourse where fans can make donations to the foundation. For a donation of $25, fans can have their heads shaved by one of the local barbers who will be at the park. Shavees will complete a short registration, and upon completion of the shaving, will receive a St. Baldrick's t-shirt. Wristbands will also be passed out to fans that would like to make a small donation. The proceeds from the night's 50/50 raffle will also benefit the foundation.
St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-powered charity dedicated to raising money for lifesaving childhood cancer research. Since the foundation's inception in 2005, St. Baldrick's has funded more than $176 million to support the most brilliant childhood cancer research experts in the world.
The Chiefs will play the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on the final $1 Thursday of the season with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. Fans can enjoy $2 beers and $1 hot dogs and sodas, with tickets starting as low as $5. Tickets for Thursday's game and for all Chiefs games are available online at syracusechiefs.com, by calling 474-7833, or in person at the stadium ticket office.
