Peoria Chiefs News Release

Davenport, IA - The Peoria Chiefs offense picked up where it left off on Sunday night and the Chiefs cruised to a 7-1 victory of the Quad Cities River Bandits on Monday night. The win moves the Chiefs to 30-20 on the half and a season-best 17 games over .500 overall at 68-51. Brett Jackson led off with a hit for the second straight game when he singled off Scott McGregor to get the contest started. Ryan Flaherty followed with a single and Rebel Ridling made it 1-0 with his 31st double of the season. Kyler Burke rifled a single into left-center to plate both Flaherty and Ridling for a 3-0 Chiefs lead.

Flaherty made it 4-0 when he homered leading off the third. The blast is his team-leading 19th of the season and third in as many games against Quad Cities in this series.

Quad Cities got on the board with an unearned run in the fourth against Chiefs starter Austin Bibens-Dirkx. Jarred Bogany reached on an infield single, stole second and moved to third on a throwing error by Peoria catcher Michael Brenly. After a walk to Jason Stidham, Xavier Scruggs made it a 4-1 game with a RBI fielders' choice.

Peoria broke the game open and sent McGregor to the showers in the sixth. With one down Burke drew a walk and D.J. LeMahieu was hit in the arm. Nelson Perez put the Chiefs on top 6-1 with a line drive triple to center. Brenly broke out of a 0-for-15 slump with a RBI single of his own for a 7-1 advantage to end McGregor's night. Reliever Matt Frevert came on and walked Junior Lake before David Macias bounced into an inning-ending double play.

Bibens-Dirkx (5-1) allowed just an unearned run on three hits over six innings. They righty walked a season-high two and struck out one. Marcus Hatley threw two scoreless innings and allowed one hit while Chris Huseby walked one in a hitless ninth inning.
