Johnstown Chiefs News Release

WHEELING, Wv. - The Johnstown Chiefs were dealt a 7-0 loss by the Wheeling Nailers on Saturday night as WesBanco Arena.

Wheeling came out energized in the first period, launching 20 shots on Chiefs' starter Shane Connelly. The rookie out of Wisconsin turned in a strong effort with 18 saves, but goals by Thomas Beauregard and Casey Pierro-Zabotel staked Wheeling to a 2-0 lead through one period. Beauregard took a drop pass charging into the zone after a line change and hammered home a one-time at 12:04. Two minutes and twenty seconds later Pierro-Zabotel struck on the power play from low on the right wing.

The Nailers' offense exploded in the second period for four goals as Thomas Beauregard tallied twice to earn a hat trick and Blair Yaworski scored twice against his former club. Yaworski's first of the night came 4:52 into the second as Jordan Fox hit him with a pass on the doorstep that he was able to jab in. Beauregard tallied at 6:26 and 11:13, with the second coming on the power play, as he tied Ryan Kinasewich for the league lead in goals at 16. Yaworski added his second of the night at 18:01 with the Nailers on a 5-on-3 power play.

In the third period Johnstown would not be able to break through against Jordan Parise and the Wheeling defense as the Nailers picked up their first shutout of the season. Jordan Fox added the Nailers' seventh of the season at 17:58 of the final frame.

Shane Connelly took the loss making 39 saves for the Chiefs. Johnstown's power play was 0-for-1 while the penalty kill went 2-for-5.
