Florida Everblades News Release

Cincinnati, OH-- The final meeting this season between the Florida Everblades and the Cincinnati Cyclones had the Cyclones on top. The first period was scoreless, but three quick second period goals, the first by Barret Ehgoetz and the final two by Brett Robinson, were all Cincinnati needed to seal the win. An impressive performance from goalie Mark Dekanich delivered Florida its first shut-out loss of the season and the third period ended 3-0 in favor of the Cyclones.

The first period was reminiscent of the night before with both teams battling every moment. Neither team came out on top and the period ended in a draw 0-0. The 'Blades out shot Cincinnati 10-5 and were 0/3 on the power play.

The second stanza saw an offensive burst from the Cyclones. The first goal was a power-play tally. Florida had only three players fully equipped due to a broken stick and Barret Ehgoetz shot one high to beat goalie Mike Morrison. Just 19 seconds later Brett Robinson scored off of Mike Mclean and Dustin Sproat. A minute and a half later the Cyclones took a three goal lead at 11:01 off of a power-play goal from Brett Robinson. Robinson tipped the puck into the goal to increase his season total to seven; Brett Motherwell and Reid Cashman were credited with the assists. Elgin Reid attempted to make it a two goal game, but Dekanich made a big save and the period ended 3-0 in favor of Cincinnati.

Florida spend most of the third period on the penalty kill. Florida was called for six consecutive penalties throughout the second and third period. They were able to prohibit any additional scoring by the Cyclones in the third, but were unable to get on the board. The shut out was the first for Florida and was recorded to Mike Dekanich who recorded twenty saves to seal the game.
