Johnstown Chiefs News Release

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Johnstown Chiefs, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Colorado Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets and the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters and Syracuse Crunch, announced today that they have traded defenseman Brett Beauchamp to the Cincinnati Cyclones in exchange for future considerations. In a separate transaction goaltender Kyle Gajewski was loaned to the Chiefs by Milwaukee of the AHL.

Beauchamp, who attended training camp with Johnstown but was injured, signed with Johnstown as a free agent on December 15. The Montreal, Quebec native skated in 24 games with the Chiefs and registered three points. He had his first career multi-point game last Sunday with two assists in the 5-2 win over Wheeling.

Rookie goaltender Kyle Gajewski began the 2008-09 season at Cincinnati where he posted a 7-10-3 record. With 49 saves he earned his first professional win in a 5-4 shootout against Dayton on November 1. Prior to turning pro, he led the OHL in wins (39) and games played (60) while finishing second with a 2.44 goals-against average last season with Sault Ste. Marie. Gajewski lacks no experience as he played 214 games in his four-seaosn career with the Greyhounds where he accumulated a record of 114-71-21. The week ending April 15, 2007 he was appropriately named the CHL goalie of the week with a 3-0-0 record and a 2.89 goal-against average, and .909 save percentage. Gajewski is under contract to the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL.
