Bombers Fall At Cincinnati 5-3

CINCINNATI, OH -- The Bombers let a 3-1 lead slip away in the second period, giving up three goals in less than two minutes as the Cincinnati Cyclones get the win 5-3 at U.S. Bank Arena, taking over first in the ECHL North Division.

After an Ian McKenzie goal gave Cincinnati a 1-0 lead at 2:05 of the first, the Bombers took the lead on a pair of power play goals by Christian Gaudet at 7:03 (assists to Dan Riedel and Nino Musitelli) and Jarret Lukin at 11:35 (assisted by Les Reaney and Justin Bowers). Dominic D'Amour, in his first game back off IR, closed out the first period scoring with an unassisted goal at 14:39 to make it 3-1.

The Cyclones came back with three goals within 1:48 of each other as Mark Van Guilder, McKenzie and Van Guilder again would make it 4-3.

Van Guilder completed his hat trick at 13:40 of the third for his nineteenth goal of the year and a 5-3 final.

Bombers goalie David Shantz was 29 of 34 on saves.

Same two teams again Saturday night at U.S. Bank Arena. Faceoff set for 7:30 with the pre-game show on the B2Networks at 7:15. The Bombers are home next Wednesday against Elmira at 7:30.
