TRENTON, N.J., (February 20, 2009) -- Eric Castonguay scored just moments into his return and assisted on the deciding goal to vault the Trenton Devils to a 2-1 win over the Wheeling Nailers Friday night. The win put the Devils into third place in the division, three points behind the first-place Cincinnati Cyclones.

Castonguay wasted no time in his return to the ice, scoring 1:29 into the contest. He picked up a loose puck in front of the crease and slipped it between the legs of Nailers goaltender Curtis Darling. Castonguay last played on February 6, and had missed seven games.

The Nailers answered back quickly, scoring 3:13 later on an Aaron Clarke goal. The Wheeling forward took a pass from Kelly Miller and fired the puck top shelf while the Devils were being called for a delayed penalty.

Later in the first period, Curtis Darling was called for delay of game, as he played the puck outside the trapezoid, giving the Devils a two man advantage. They capitalized as Matt Cohen scored his 10th goal of the season on a rebound from a Castonguay shot at 15:58.

The Devils stood tall defensively for the rest of the contest, allowing just two shots against the Nailers in the third period. The Devils completed the night with a 2-1 victory, pushing them into third place in the ECHL's American Conference, North Division.

Gerald Coleman made 17 saves in goal for the win, while Darling kept the Nailers alive with 31 saves in the loss. The Devils power play went 1-for-3, while the penalty kill stopped all four Wheeling power plays, including a key kill late in the third period.

The Devils will return Saturday night to honor Scott Bertoli, the most prolific player in team history. Bertoli's No. 19 will be raised to the rafters of Sovereign Bank Arena in a pre-game ceremony slated to start at 6:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early so as not to miss to ceremony. It is also recommended that tickets are purchased well in advance of tomorrow night's game at www.trentondevils.com. The Devils will play the South Carolina Stingrays following the ceremony.

TRENTON DEVILS - The Trenton Devils are a member of the ECHL -- North America's Premier "AA" Hockey League. The Trenton Devils are owned and operated by the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League.
