Chicago Steals a One-Goal Game
January 8, 2016 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Fargo Force News Release
Tonight the Fargo Force took on the sixth place in the Eastern Conference, Chicago Steel. The game this evening was a toilsome event as the Steel and the Force battled to put the puck in the net. This year the USHL is made up of a tight set of teams where every game is a fight to get the win. This game was a perfect portrayal of just how evenly matched the teams in the USHL are.
Both clubs worked each other and played with aggression and intensity, neither team taking total control of the puck or the game. Both goaltenders had excellent games, Fargo had 26 shots on goal at the end of the second and Chicago had 28. Neither letting a puck break their barrier. The Force and the Steel entered the third period locked up 0-0.
The third period was filled with endless offensive attacks from both the Force and the Steel as they relentlessly attempted to get through one another's defense. At 6:05 in the third, Chicago finally broke through as Ruslan Rakhmatov positioned himself in front of the Force's net, Brandon Duhaime steered Wishcow to the left of the net and passed to Rakhmatov giving him a wide open goal, putting the Steel up 1-0.
At the end of the game the Force had an impressive 39 shots on goal and The Steel had 37, Chicago overcame the Force 1-0. Head Coach Cary Eades thought that the Force played with a lot of heart and commented that the only thing that set the Steel apart from the Force was the play that they made in the third to win the game. He believes that the Force themselves need to be better at putting together those plays and enhancing their net front presence in order to win games.
The Fargo Force take on The Chicago Steel again tomorrow night at 7:05pm! Tickets are available at the Scheels Arena Box Office Monday through Friday from 11am to 6pm, tickets300.com, or the Tickets300 location on Broadway.
