Madison Capitols News Release

Madison, WI - The Madison Capitols (11-15-1-2) will begin a pivotal seven-game homestand, the team's longest of the season, on Friday night as they host the Sioux City Musketeers (15-14-1-0) at the Alliant Energy Center for a 7:05 p.m. puck drop.

The Musketeers are playing their second game in as many nights, and they will be looking to erase the memory of a 4-0 shutout defeat at the hands of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders an evening ago. Sioux City won each of the two matchups against the Capitols in 2014-15.

The Capitols, just like Sioux City, will be looking to get the offense firing once again, as they, too, are coming off a shutout defeat, 2-0, on Saturday at the hands of the Bloomington Thunder. Garrett Metcalf was the shining star of the night for the Capitols, turning aside 41 pucks in the hard-luck loss.

Madison will see a newcomer make his Capitols' debut this evening. Marcel Godbout (Detroit, Mich.) makes his first appearance as a Capitol after being acquired on Thursday from the Chicago Steel in exchange for Haralds Egle. Godbout has 11 goals this season through his first 31 games.

The Capitols are paced offensively by De Pere, Wis. native Sam McCormick, who has already come within two goals of eclipsing his entire 2014-15 total, His three game winning goals are also the highest total on the Madison roster.

Sioux City has been paced offensively by a pair of Finnish born forwards, including 16-year-old Eeli Tolvanen, who leads the Musketeers in goals (13) and points (29).

On the back end, Cam Gornet has been the most utilized goaltender in the USHL with 1493 minutes played. He has 12 victories and a .910 save percentage. He shut out the Capitols at the Coliseum on March 21 of last season in his first appearance against Madison.

After tonight's affair, the Caps return to the ice on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 7:05 p.m., where they will host the Youngstown Phantoms on "Be The Miracle" night. Madison will wear specialty "Miracle on Ice" inspired jerseys on a night where the Capitols will honor the late Bob Suter and recognize local miracle workers around Madison.

In Suter's memory, the night will be "all about the kids", as children 12-and-under can receive a free ticket to the game with the purchase of an adult ticket at the promotional cost of $10-$12. The offer is good through 1 p.m. on Saturday.
