Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
Bloomington, Ill - Collin Adams had a two goal game, Joey Daccord made 35 saves, and Max Humitz netted a goal in the final thirty seconds of play, to lift the Muskegon Lumberjacks to a 3-2 victory over the Bloomington Thunder.
The first period featured strong goaltending on both sides; starting with Daccord making 11 saves in the first twenty minutes of play, and Logan Halladay holding onto his shutout streak of over 165 minutes, late into the first period. However, with less than one minute to go in the first frame, the Lumberjacks were able to capitalize on the power play, when Adams blasted home a rebound to give Muskegon a 1-0 lead. Chris Klack and Will Graber notched the assists on the early tally.
Midway through the second period, Thunder forward Tarek Baker responded, to tie the game 1-1. The game would remain tied for only three minutes of play. After a big save by Daccord in the Lumberjacks defensive zone, Adams netted his second of the game, to give the Lumberjacks a 2-1 lead heading into the second intermission.
Bloomington and Baker would answer again, tying the game at 2, midway through the third period.
However, after ten minutes of scoreless hockey, Muskegon looked like they were heading for their ninth overtime game of the season, but Humitz was able to rip home a rebound with twenty seconds to go in the game, and lift the Lumberjacks to a 3-2 regulation win.
The Muskegon Lumberjacks (13-11-3) will look to build off of their success as they travel back to L.C. Walker Arena for a rematch with the Bloomington Thunder (16-10-3). The Lumberjacks will be looking for back-to-back wins for the first time since mid-November, as the L.C. Walker Arena will feature many characters from out of this galaxy, when Muskegon hosts their annual Star Wars Night. Kids 13 and under get in free when they dress as their favorite Jedi Knight or Storm Trooper. Puck will drop at 7:15 p.m.
