
Checkers Trim Training Camp Roster by Six

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte Checkers general manager and head coach Jeff Daniels announced today the team has released six players from its training camp.
Assigned to the Florida Everblades are defensemen Kyle Lawson and Chris Murray, forward Matt Beca and goaltender John Muse, while training camp invites Evan Stephens and Scott Pitt were released.
The Checkers' roster now stands at 22 and training camp will resume Monday at 10 a.m. at Extreme Ice Center.
The 2011-12 regular season will kick off Friday, Oct. 7 in Norfolk and the Checkers' home opener will take place Saturday, Oct. 15 at Time Warner Cable Arena. The first 3,500 fans will receive a free 3' x 5' Checkers house flag, courtesy of Time Warner Cable.
