Charlotte Checkers News Release
RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled forward Drayson Bowman from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League. Bowman will join the team for its final 2011 exhibition game tonight at Nashville (8 p.m. ET, Hurricanes Radio Network).
Bowman, 22, was reassigned to Charlotte on Thursday after having played in three of Carolina's four preseason games to that point. Born in Grand Rapids, MI, but raised in Littleton, CO, he split the 2010-11 season between Carolina and Charlotte. Bowman (6'1", 190 lbs.) has notched two goals and earned one assist (3 points) in 32 career NHL games with the Hurricanes, while scoring 29 goals and earning 33 assists (62 points) in 107 career regular-season AHL games with Carolina's top minor-league affiliates. The Hurricanes drafted Bowman in the third round, 72nd overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
