
Checkers Preseason Schedule Announced

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers announced today that training camp will begin Thursday, October 6th and will include two preseason games against the Columbia Inferno.
Players will report Thursday, October 6th for physicals and practice will begin Friday, October 7th at Pineville Ice House. All training camp practice sessions are open to the public. As part of the preseason, the Checkers will play two games against the Columbia Inferno. The first game will be 7:00 pm, Friday, October 14th at Columbia and the second will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 15th at Pineville Ice House.
The Checkers will break training camp on Thursday, October 20th and open the regular season Friday, October 21st at Gwinnett. The Checkers open the regular season with a five-game road trip and will open the home season Sunday, November 6th on St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena.
The Checkers have several players returning from the 2004-05 American Conference Finalists roster including Dusty Jamieson, Ryan Glenn and Kenton Smith. The Checkers also added rookie-goalie Bernd Bruckler and AHL veteran-center Blake Bellefeuille to go along with several promising young prospects.

The Charlotte Checkers open their 13th season in the ECHL Friday, October 21st at Gwinnett. The Checkers are Bound for Uptown as they will take the St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena for the first time Sunday, November 6th against Greenville Grrrowl.
