
Checkers Lose To Generals 5-3 in Final Preseason Tilt

Greensboro, NC - Tuesday, October 14, 2003) - The Checkers ended their preseason schedule with a 5-3 loss to Greensboro at the Generals practice facility Tuesday night. Dusty Jamieson, Jeff State and Jim Vickers scores for the Checkers, while goalie Scott Meyer went the distance in his first ECHL action since being assigned to Charlotte by its' American Hockey League affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, late last week.
The Checkers jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period on goals by Jamieson and State, only to see the Generals put three on the board in the second period for a 3-2 Greensboro lead after two. Vickers scored in the third for Charlotte but the Generals added two in the period for the 5-3 final.
The Checkers ended their preseason without a win at 0-5, and will now set their sites on the regular season and home opener this Saturday night at Cricket Arena when they'll host the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:30 p.m.
ONE GONE, ONE NEW FACE: The Checkers released goaltender Geoff Derouin on Tuesday, and picked up center Luke Earl. Earl, a Yale University graduate, played last season in Germany, and was released Monday by the Columbia Inferno.
CHECKERS TICKETS: All regular season individual game tickets and preseason game tickets are on sale. Tickets may be purchased at the Cricket Arena Box Office, the Charlotte Coliseum Box Office, and all Ticketmaster locations. Tickets may also be purchased by phone by using a credit card and calling Ticketmaster at (704) 922-6500, and through the Internet at www.ticketmaster.com.
Individual game tickets for the 2003-04 season are priced at $7.00 for balcony seats, $10.00 for end mezzanine seats, $12.00 for side mezzanine seats, $15.00 for circle seats, and $20.00 for box seats.
