
Pirates Sign Colin Forbes

PORTLAND, ME - The Portland Pirates announced today that left wing Colin Forbes has been signed to a 25-game professional try-out. The addition of Forbes brings the Pirates' lineup to 23 players including 14 forwards, seven defensemen and two goalies.
Forbes had a career year last season for the Pirates, appearing in 69 games and scoring 22 goals and 38 assists for 60 points. He also had 73 penalty minutes. The native of New Westminster, British Columbia has played in nearly 300 NHL games for Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, Ottawa, the New York Rangers and the Washington Capitals. He was an invitee to Pirates' training camp this fall.
Forbes is expected to be in the lineup when the Pirates return to action on Wednesday night to play the Manchester Monarchs at Verizon Wireless Arena at 7:05 p.m.
The Pirates will host their home opener on Friday, October 17th against the Hartford Wolf Pack at the Cumberland County Civic Center at 7:05 p.m. As part of Opening Night festivities, Rivalries, Margaritas and the Brian Boru will be hosting a pre-game block party from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with drink specials, giveaways and mascot appearances.
The Pirates will be back on Civic Center ice on Saturday, October 18th when they host the Monarchs at 7:05 p.m. The first 2,500 fans will receive a Pirates' magnetic schedule courtesy of Paul G. White Tile Company. Tickets for these and all Pirates' home games are on sale at the Civic Center box office and all Ticketmaster outlets.
