Checkers assigned two Rangers draft picks from Wolf Pack

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers announced today that the Hartford Wolf Pack, of the American Hockey League, has reassigned forwards Zdenek Bahensky and Jakub Petruzalek to Charlotte. Both Bahensky and Petruzalek had played in two games apiece for the Wolf Pack, with no points or penalty minutes.

Bahensky, 20, was the third-round selection of the New York Rangers (73rd overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-2-inch, 195-pounder from Most, Czech Republic played the past two seasons with the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL. Last season he registered 19 goals and 36 assists with 76 penalty minutes over 65 games. During the 2004-05 season, he recorded 14 goals, 17 assists and 101 penalty minutes in 66 games.

Petruzalek, 21, was the ninth-round selection of the New York Rangers (266th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. The 5-foot-10-inch, 176-pounder from Litvinov, Czech Republic split last season between the OHL and Czech Republic League. Last season he appeared in 19 games with the Litvinov CHP HC (Czech) notching one goal and one assist with six penalty minutes. In 24 games with the Barrie Colts (OHL), he recorded 11 goals and 20 assists with 28 penalty minutes.
