Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces have been assigned winger Ryan MacMurchy by their American Hockey League affiliate in Peoria.

Originally a ninth round draft choice of St. Louis in 2002, the 6-2, 207-pound MacMurchy enrolled at the University of Wisconsin and scored 110 points (44g-66a) while accumulating 342 penalty minutes in 162 career games. He finished at least fifth on the club in scoring in all four of his collegiate seasons, including a senior campaign that culminated in the 2006 NCAA championship. The 23-year-old MacMurchy completed his career as only the seventh Badger ever to surpass 100 points and 300 PIM and became the first University of Wisconsin player to hit the century mark in points since Dany Heatley left campus in 2001.

Ryan's top offensive numbers with the Badgers came as a junior in 2005, when he scored 11 goals and assisted on 22 others. He also led Wisconsin in PIM in each of his last two seasons after ranking second on the team in scoring in his first two years. MacMurchy's 15 goals as a sophomore marked a college career-high and helped the Badgers reach the 2004 NCAA quarterfinals. He was drafted by the Blues after a year in which he scored 32 goals for the Notre Dame Hounds of the SJHL and was named that league's MVP in the SJHL vs. MJHL All-Star Game.

Early this afternoon, Alaska released defenseman Martin Ondruska and forward Justin Chwedoruk while adding forward Chris Fournier to its training camp roster. The 24-year-old Fournier grew up in Anchorage and spent one season at the University of North Dakota (4g-9a in 28 games) before transferring to UAA and finishing second on the Seawolves in scoring with 32 points on 14 goals and 18 assists in 2004. He has not played at either the collegiate or the professional level since a four-game stint with the Texas Wildcatters (ECHL) in the fall of 2004.

The Aces will raise their 2006 Kelly Cup championship banner Friday night at Sullivan Arena against Victoria, so fans are encouraged to come early. About 600 tickets remain for Friday's season opener. The series wraps up Saturday night at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are available at the Aces office, Sullivan Arena, www.alaskaaces.com, and all Fred Meyer locations in Anchorage. Fans also may call Ticketmaster at (907) 562-4800.
