Checkers Agree To Terms With Lucyk

Charlotte N.C. - Charlotte Checkers general manager and head coach Derek Wilkinson announced today that the team has come to terms with defenseman Luke Lucyk.

Lucyk, 6-feet-0, 205 pounds, finished this season with Notre Dame playing in 38 games for the Irish registering two assists and 18 penalty minutes. The Fox Point, WI. native began his collegiate career with Notre Dame during the 2004-05 campaign and spent four seasons there playing in 88 games scoring two goals and four assists for five points with 42 penalty minutes. Lucyk is expected to be in the Checkers lineup tonight as they battle their first round opponents in a preview of the Kelly Cup Playoffs, the South Carolina Stingrays tonight at Time Warner Cable Arena at 7:00 p.m.

The Checkers are playing their 16th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game takes place on April 1 against the South Carolina Stingrays at 7 P.M. start. In the team's 16-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 12 times including five consecutive playoff appearances. The Checkers are in their fourth season of play at Time Warner Cable Arena.
