April 29, 2019 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

Redbirds starter Jake Woodford tossed a quality outing in a 5-1 victory in game one, while the Storm Chasers erased a nine-run deficit in the nightcap for a come-from-behind walk-off 11-10 victory as Omaha and Memphis split their Sunday twinbill at Werner Park.

Woodford (6.2 IP, 4 H, R, ER, 3 BB, 6 K) earned the win, yielding one run while scattering four hits and falling one out shy of a seven-inning complete game. Omaha starter Scott Blewett (6.0 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 2 K), meanwhile, suffered the defeat.

Memphis got on the board with a single tally in the opening frame of game one. The Storm Chasers answered via 1B Frank Schwindel 's run-scoring double to the left-center field wall. The 1-1 draw remained until the fifth, when RF Adolis Garcia and CF Lane Thomas both went deep as part of a four-run frame.

Thomas (2-3, R, HR, 2 RBI) and DH Andrew Knizner (2-4, R, RBI) each posted multi-hit efforts in the victory. Schwindel (2-3, R, 2B) and Lopez (2-3, 2B), meanwhile, recorded two hits apiece to account for all four Omaha knocks.

The Redbirds jumped out ahead early again in game two, scoring two runs in each of the first two innings, followed by a five-run fourth that pulled Memphis ahead 9-0. The Storm Chasers, however, began their comeback effort by plating four scores in the last of the fourth, highlighted by RF Jorge Bonifacio 's three-run shot. After Memphis scored a single tally in the fifth, Omaha scored five in the sixth to narrow the deficit to just one run thanks in part to a two-run single by 3B Humberto Arteaga .

Entering the seventh and final frame down one, the Storm Chasers loaded the bases for CF Erick Mejia , who dropped a single into left field to bring in two runs and complete Omaha's incredible comeback victory.

Mejia drove in four runs and collected three hits, the latter of which matched SS Nicky Lopez for most on the Storm Chasers lineup, while LF Elier Hernandez added two knocks. Memphis C Francisco Pena (3-4, R, HR, 3 RBI) and RF Drew Robinson (2-3, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB) each recorded multi-hit efforts in the loss.

Omaha reliever Kyle Zimmer (1.0 IP, 2 H, BB) earned the win in the nightcap, while Redbirds right John Fasola (1.1 IP, H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, K) suffered the defeat. Memphis southpaw Hunter Cervenka (0.0 IP, H, BB) was also charged with a blown save.

The Storm Chasers return to the road for a four-day road series in Nashville, with the series opener slated for Tuesday evening at 6:35pm CT. Omaha is expected to send RHP Zach Lovvorn (1-0, 11.45) to the hill, while the Sounds have not yet announced a starter.

Following that road trip, the Storm Chasers return home for an eight-game homestand featuring the Iowa Cubs and Round Rock Express. First pitch of the series opener versus the I-Cubs is slated for 7:05pm on Friday, May 3.

Tickets for that game and all remaining Storm Chasers home contests can be purchased online at www.omahastormchasers.com, or by calling the Werner Park Ticket Office from noon until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at (402) 738-5100.
